Leaked Details Hinting At 'The Avengers' Plot Twist?

(WARNING! Though very little has actually been confirmed, this report contains strong hinting at how "The Avengers" plot may play out. If you still want everything about the movie to be a complete surprise, turn back now.)
One sentence describing 2012's "The Avengers," coupled with who and what is confirmed not to be in the movie, is making for some curious speculation about how the plot will play out.
The bio Marvel has released for Tom Hiddleston's returning "Thor" villain Loki claims "It may take more than the Avengers to stop him."
A couple things to rule out, according to Comicbookmovie.com and Worstpreviews.com: first off, that's probably not referring to the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), since he's already rumored to be part of the team. It won't be Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) father Odin, because Anthony Hopkins wasn't signed up for this one. More interestingly, Marvel claims that there won't be any further new heroes introduced this time, per Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige.
There is always the possibility that Loki could maybe decide that maybe his evil scheme to decimate Earth - possibly, alongside the Skrulls - could overdo it and he ends up helping to undo the damage. After all, Hiddleston has described the character as "complex" in interviews.
Then again, as Comicbookmovie.com points out, Feige only guaranteed no new "heroes." He never said anything about "villains."
Bear in mind also, this was written by Joss Whedon. Even setting aside "Firefly"/"Serenity" and looking solely at the "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" years, he has a way with writing compelling, flawed characters that blend shades of grey between good and evil. Those types of characters have sometimes produced some of the most interesting moments in the Marvel Universe, from Magneto's moment putting aside his differences with the X-Men, to some of the actions of Tony Stark, Daredevil and the Punisher being pretty reprehensible by hero standards.
We'll all certainly know more, when "The Avengers" - starring Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson - hits theaters May 4, 2012.
