Tonight's Fall Premieres: 'Dexter' and 'Homeland' [Sun 10/2]
Though the remainder of the fall 2011 premieres will continue to trickle in, tonight may be the last night with a big premiere "event." The major networks have premiere most of their shows, has have the basic cable channels and HBO. But Showtime still has to strut its stuff, and it will do so tonight with a returning favorite and the premiere of a brand-new drama.
Dex has been through a lot lately, but this season might just be the one where we see the serial killer we know and love return to form. He'll definitely need to be on his game this year, as he'll be facing off against a crazy cult lead by Edward James Olmos and Colin Hanks... and Mos Def's mysterious character might cause trouble as well, or give Dexter a hand in dealing with his new challenges. Religion will play a major role in "Dexter" season six, so it should be quite a ride.
The departure of "24" from primetime has left a bit of a hole as far as good ol' American political thrillers go. Lucky for us, Showtime is premiering "Homeland" tonight. Claire Danes returns to TV in the drama as she plays a CIA agent who believes that a Marine who has been held as a POW in the Middle East has turned against his own country. The series is already garnering positive reviews and promises an intricate plot with twists and turns along the way.
If you want to catch the episode a little early, Showtime has released an edited version of the full premiere episode on YouTube.
