Tonight's Fall Premieres: 'H8R,' 'Survivor: South Pacific,''Up All Night,' 'Free Agents'
While “Ringer” got mixed reviews and “Parenthood” was damn near slash-your-wrists-depressing, tonight’s slate of premieres may prove far more entertaining and uplifting.
Mario Lopez may have finally been able to transcend his status as the actor who played A.C. Green on “Saved by the Bell” with his appearances on “Dancing with the Stars,” “America’s Best Dance Crew” and “Nip/Tuck.”
With "H8R," Lopez is bringing celebrities face to face with the “civilians” who hate them in an attempt to win them over. While the show is certainly going to focus on the hilarious or ridiculous parts of the whole undertaking, it’s actually a pretty fascinating concept that challenges what we know or think we know about famous people.
Of course, “H8R” to start with the one woman more people love to hate and hate to love than almost any other woman on television – “Jersey Shore” starlet Snooki.

Survivor: South Pacific (CBS)
A country music singer, a mortician, a lingerie football player and a medical marijuana dispenser are just some of the latest cast of contestants to hit “Survivor: South Pacific.”
This season takes place on the South Pacific island of Samoa, and the producers have introduced some new twists.
“This year with hidden immunity idols, we’re hiding the clue,” host Jeff Probst told Entertainment Weekly. “No clue as to where the clue is. Once you find the clue, then you have to find the idol.”

America's Next Top Model (CW)
This season, “America’s Next Top Model” pulls a “Top Chef” move and brings back a team of past all-stars to compete against each other.
As The CW puts it, the cast includes “fan favorites and outrageous characters from previous cycles of the show. These women of various backgrounds, shapes and sizes return to prove that they can make it in the high-stress, high-stakes world of modeling and celebrity, featuring an exciting line-up of special guest judges.”
Will age and experience make these contestant better models, or will they show their age on the catwalk?

Up All Night (NBC)
One of the most promising entries in NBC’s new fall lineup, “Up All Night” has “SNL” and “Bridesmaids” star Maya Rudolph hosting a talk show with assist from comic genius and “Arrested Development” alum Will Arnett and Christina Applegate.
Rudolph has been ridiculously funny as of late, and Arnett has been shopping for a much-deserved permanent home for a while. Hopefully this will be the one.
“Up All Night” will move to an earlier time slot later in the season.

Free Agents (NBC)
Hank Azaria, perhaps best known as the voice of Moe, Chief Wiggums, Comic Book Guy and Apu on “The Simpsons,” stars in this American remake of a successful British comedy series.
Azaria stars alongside perpetual female sidekick Katherine Hahn as a couple of friends and co-workers who end up sleeping together despite both carrying heavy baggage from past relationships.
The source material here is rich, but it remains to be seen if this show can approximate the overseas success of “The Office.”
