Fred, starring as Scrooge, becomes so self-absorbed that he forgets to get Christmas gifts for his family, forgets to pick up Pebbles from the Cave Care center, and accuses Barney of being a snitch. Fred, with an ego the size of a tyrannosaurus, starts to become the role in which he's cast in this animated holiday special.

Fred Flintstone finds out there really is a Santa Claus when the old gentleman falls off his roof and sprains his ankle. So the children of the world will not be disappointed, Fred substitutes for Santa and Barney comes along on the magical journey as an elf.
