Ep 4. Declaration

In Accel World Season 1 Episode 4, titled "Declaration," we find Haruyuki still reeling from the revelation that Kuroyukihime is not only the highest-ranking player in the game but also the student council vice-president at their school. He's struggling to reconcile these two very different versions of her and struggling to figure out his own place in the Accel World.

Meanwhile, Kuroyukihime has asked Haruyuki to meet her in the real world, outside of the game. He's nervous and excited, wondering what it could mean - is she going to ask him out? Confess her love? His hopes are dashed, however, when Kuroyukihime reveals that she wants him to help her take on a notorious Burst Linker named Red Rider. Red Rider is a bully who has been terrorizing the lower level players in the game, and Kuroyukihime believes that only someone with Haruyuki's unique abilities can take him down.

Haruyuki is understandably hesitant - he's barely able to hold his own in one-on-one fights, how is he supposed to go up against a seasoned veteran like Red Rider? Kuroyukihime is insistent, however, and tells him that he needs to embrace his inner strengths and have faith in his own abilities. She also warns him that if he doesn't take on Red Rider, he'll be seen as weak and vulnerable by the other players - something that could have long-lasting repercussions for him and the other members of Nega Nebulus.

Reluctantly, Haruyuki agrees to take on the challenge. Kuroyukihime also tells him that he needs to come up with a "declaration" of his own before the battle - a statement of his beliefs and values that he can use to motivate himself and inspire others. At first, Haruyuki struggles to come up with anything - he's never really thought about what he stands for, beyond just trying to get through each day.

As the day of the battle approaches, Haruyuki begins to feel more and more nervous. He's worried about letting Kuroyukihime down, as well as the other members of the group who are counting on him. He's also feeling pressure from the other players - Red Rider has been spreading rumors about Haruyuki, trying to get into his head before the fight.

Finally, the day of the battle arrives. Haruyuki meets Red Rider in the virtual arena, and the two begin their fight. At first, Haruyuki is overwhelmed - Red Rider is much more skilled and experienced than he is, and he's having trouble keeping up. But as the fight wears on, Haruyuki begins to find his footing. He remembers Kuroyukihime's words about embracing his inner strengths, and he starts to feel a sense of calm and focus that he's never experienced before.

As the fight reaches its climax, Haruyuki unleashes a furious assault on Red Rider, surprising him and catching him off guard. He's able to defeat the bully, winning the respect and admiration of the other players in the game. In the aftermath of the battle, Haruyuki realizes that he's found his own declaration - a statement of his values and goals that he can use to motivate himself and inspire others. He's beginning to understand what it means to truly be a member of Nega Nebulus, and he's started to believe in himself in a way that he never has before.
