Ep 4. A Broken Heart

Sydney is alerted by her handler, Michael Vaughn, that an SD-6 agent has been captured by the FBI and is being held at a federal building in Los Angeles. She is tasked with breaking into the building and retrieving a device before it falls into the wrong hands.

Meanwhile, Sydney’s personal life takes a hit as her boyfriend, Danny, breaks up with her after she dodges his questions about her job. Devastated by the breakup, Sydney finds solace in her father, Jack Bristow, who reveals that he too lost the love of his life due to his dangerous job.

As Sydney struggles to balance her personal and professional lives, she and her teammate, Dixon, successfully break into the federal building and retrieve the device. However, they are ambushed by a group of armed men, forcing Sydney to fight for her life.

Back at SD-6, Sydney confronts her boss, Arvin Sloane, about his knowledge of the ambush and his involvement in the theft of the device. Sloane reveals that he had orchestrated the whole scenario as a test for Sydney to prove her loyalty.

Feeling betrayed by the very organization she works for, Sydney begins to question her allegiance and the true motives of SD-6. The episode ends with Sydney contemplating her next move and the impact it will have on her life.
