In Army Wives season 3 episode 10, titled "M.I.A.," tensions rise as the Fort Marshall community braces for an impending hurricane. As families prepare for the storm, Pamela wrestles with her feelings for commonwealth attorney, Colonel Kat Young. Meanwhile, Denise's friend, Marda, returns to base and finds herself facing a difficult decision when she discovers that her husband has gone M.I.A. (missing in action) in Iraq.
Roland and Joan struggle with their own marital issues, as Roland contemplates a job opportunity that would take him away from Fort Marshall. Claudia Joy, dealing with the stress of her husband's deployment, finds solace in the company of the newcomer on base, Dr. Katie Moran. However, their friendship may be short-lived as Dr. Moran's past comes back to haunt her.
As the hurricane hits, the base is thrown into chaos and the troops are put on high alert. Amidst the chaos, Denise receives a message that her husband's unit has been involved in a deadly engagement. She rushes to the hospital to find out more information, desperate to know if her husband is one of the casualties. Meanwhile, Marda struggles with whether or not to tell her daughter that her father may never return home.
Throughout the episode, themes of sacrifice, commitment, and strength in the face of adversity shine through as the characters confront the challenges of military life. As the storm passes, the characters find themselves forever changed by the events of the day, and must continue to navigate the uncertain waters of army life together.
