Ballykissangel is a heartwarming drama series that aired on BBC One from 1996 to 2001. Set in the fictional village of Ballykissangel in Ireland, the show revolves around the lives of a group of colorful characters and their everyday struggles. At the center of the plot is Father Peter Clifford (played by Stephen Tompkinson), a young priest from England who has been sent to Ballykissangel to be the new parish priest. Peter is a modern and progressive priest, who often clashes with the more conservative members of the community. He quickly becomes involved in the lives of his parishioners, and his interactions with them form the heart of the show.

Dervla Kirwan plays Assumpta Fitzgerald, the owner of the local pub and a former flame of Father Peter's. Assumpta is a strong-willed and independent woman who often clashes with the more traditional members of the community. She and Father Peter share a deep connection, but their relationship is complicated by their respective roles in the community.

Tony Doyle plays Brian Quigley, the local businessman and the show's resident villain. Quigley is a manipulative and greedy man who is always looking for ways to make a profit. He often clashes with Father Peter and the other members of the community, who see him as a greedy and selfish opportunist.

Colin Farrell, in one of his early acting roles, plays Danny Byrne, a troubled young man who has had a difficult upbringing. Danny is a talented but reckless young man who often gets into trouble. Father Peter sees potential in Danny and tries to guide him onto a better path.

Don Wycherley plays Father MacAnally, the aging parish priest who Father Peter has come to replace. Father Mac is a wise and compassionate man who has a deep understanding of the community he serves. He acts as a mentor to Peter and helps him navigate the complex relationships in the village.

Robert Taylor plays Padraig O'Kelly, the local doctor and one of Father Peter's closest friends. Padraig is a warm and caring man who is always there to lend a helping hand. He often acts as a mediator between the different factions in the village.

Tina Kellegher plays Niamh Egan, the local postmistress and Brian Quigley's long-suffering wife. Niamh is a gentle and kind-hearted woman who often finds herself caught in the middle of the various conflicts in the village.

Victoria Smurfit plays Orla O'Connell, a young woman who comes to Ballykissangel to escape her troubled past. Orla is a free-spirited woman who is always on the lookout for adventure. She quickly becomes involved with Danny, and their relationship forms a major storyline in the show.

Peter Hanly plays Ambrose Egan, Niamh's brother and the local garage owner. Ambrose is a kind and simple-minded man who often finds himself caught up in the various schemes and conflicts in the village.

Catherine Cusack plays Siobhan Mehigan, Father Peter's housekeeper and one of his closest confidants. Siobhan is a warm and caring woman who has a deep love for her community and the people in it.
