Ep 12. Countdown

In the Batman Beyond season 3 episode 12, entitled "Countdown," Terry McGinnis (the current Batman) faces perhaps his biggest challenge yet. An old nemesis named Shriek has returned, and he's more dangerous than ever. Shriek possesses a weapon that could destroy all of Gotham City, and he's using it to blackmail the government.

The episode begins with Terry patrolling the city, as he always does. But when he hears about a break-in at a science facility, he rushes over to investigate. It doesn't take him long to realize that Shriek is behind the theft, and that he's working on something big.

Terry knows that he needs to stop Shriek before it's too late, but he's not exactly sure how. However, he's not alone in his quest. He's able to get some help from some old friends, including Max Gibson, who helps him track down Shriek's lair.

Once Terry arrives at the lair, he quickly realizes how outmatched he is. Shriek has a powerful weapon that emits a frequency that can cause destruction on a massive scale. In order to save Gotham, Terry knows that he needs to stop Shriek before he can use his weapon.

The remainder of the episode is spent following Terry as he tries to stop Shriek. He employs a variety of tactics, including some clever use of technology and a little bit of brute strength, to try and gain the upper hand on his enemy.

Throughout the episode, we see Terry struggle with the enormity of the task before him. He knows that he's the only one who can stop Shriek, but he's not sure if he's capable. However, he's determined to do whatever it takes to save Gotham.

One of the standout moments in the episode comes when Terry is forced to confront his own mortality. He realizes that he might not survive this battle, and that he needs to make peace with that fact. It's a poignant and emotional moment, and it's a testament to the character development that has taken place throughout the series.

As the episode races towards its conclusion, the tension becomes almost unbearable. Will Terry be able to stop Shriek? Will he be able to save Gotham from destruction?
