Other notable winners included Justin Bieber, who won top social artist and top streaming artist, and Katy Perry, who won top touring artist.
The night's performances were just as impressive as the winners. Adele, who was recovering from vocal surgery, gave a stunning rendition of her hit song "Rolling in the Deep." Katy Perry wowed the audience with a high-flying performance of her single "Wide Awake." LMFAO brought their signature energy to the stage with a medley of their hits, including "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy and I Know It."
Other performers included Chris Brown, who performed his single "Turn Up the Music," and Usher, who delivered a high-energy rendition of his hit song "Scream."
The show also paid tribute to some of the industry's fallen icons, including Whitney Houston and Donna Summer. John Legend and Jordin Sparks performed a touching tribute to Houston, singing her hit songs "I Will Always Love You" and "The Greatest Love of All." Natasha Bedingfield performed a tribute to Summer, singing her disco classic "Last Dance."
