Boise State, the undefeated Western Athletic Conference champion for second year in a row, (13-0, 8-0 WAC) ran through the regular season behind a multi-faceted offense, leading the nation in scoring with 44.2 points per game. TCU (12-0, 8-0 Mountain West Conference) is led by a tremendous defense ranked first in total defense (233.3 yards/game) and number six in scoring defense (12.4 points allowed/game). This will be the first non-national championship BCS bowl game to feature undefeated teams.
