'Breaking Bad' Season 5 Will Be Split In Two

'Breaking Bad' Season 5 Will Be Split In Two Depending on whether you're a glass half full or glass half empty kind of person (and whether you're a fan of "Breaking Bad" at all), you might greet the following news differently.

The fifth, and by all accounts final, season of "Breaking Bad" will be split into two parts, according to Bryan Cranston himself (as reported by EW). The first half is shooting now, and will presumably air in the show's usual spot in the summer.

The production will then take a four-month break, and resume shooting later. That will, of course, push the air dates of the final episodes back by at least four months as well. Considering that, it's likely that we'll see the first eight episodes of the 16-episode season in summer of 2012, while the other episodes will air in January 2013 (or, God forbid, summer of 2013).

So, if you're an optimist, jump for joy: the final season of your favorite show will be split up, so it will practically be like have two more seasons! Yay!

If you're a pessimist, write AMC an angry letter: you may have to wait a very long time before you see the conclusion of Walter White's not-so-gentle downward spiral.
