Burn Up Excess is a Japanese anime television series that aired from 1997 to 1998, directed by Shinichiro Kimura and produced by Magic Bus. The main characters in this action-packed anime series are Rio Kinezono, Maya Jingu, Nanvel Candlestick, Lilica Ebett, and Yuji Naruo, all members of the infamous Tokyo Meka Police department. The show takes place in a futuristic Tokyo, where a high-tech energy source known as the Dragon Eye has been discovered.

Rio Kinezono is the main protagonist of the story and is a talented and ambitious police officer with a thirst for adventure. She loves motorcycles and is an excellent driver, often seen zooming through the streets of the city in pursuit of criminals. Maya Jingu is another member of the Tokyo Meka Police department and is Rio's partner. Maya is a skilled hacker and has extensive knowledge of computer technology. She is also the brains behind the team, providing valuable information and support to her colleagues.

Nanvel Candlestick is the team's scientist, responsible for creating and upgrading the team's equipment. She’s constantly testing new gadgets and weapons, always looking for ways to improve the team's effectiveness. Lilica Ebett is a powerful psychic who is able to use her telekinetic abilities to manipulate objects and people. She's often portrayed as a bit of a flirt, but she uses this to her advantage during undercover operations. Finally, Yuji Naruo is the team's rookie and often serves as the comic relief of the show. He's eager to prove himself and is always willing to jump into action, even if it means putting himself in harm's way.

The series follows the adventures of this team as they work to protect the city from various threats, ranging from corporate espionage, terrorism, and powerful criminal organizations. The episodes are filled with intense action scenes, car chases, gun fights, and explosions. They also feature a lot of comedy and romantic subplots, providing a wholesome balance between light-hearted moments and action-packed sequences.

Throughout the series, we see the characters grow and evolve, both as individuals and as a team. Rio and Maya, in particular, have a close friendship that grows stronger over time. Their shared experiences help them to form a deep bond, and they often rely on each other during tough situations. Nanvel and Lilica also have an interesting relationship, as Nanvel is fascinated by the idea of psychic abilities and often relies on Lilica's power to help the team.

One of the most interesting aspects of Burn Up Excess is the exploration of the themes of technology and power. The Dragon Eye, which powers the city, is a valuable resource that everyone is fighting for. It's a symbol of power and control, and the characters often find themselves embroiled in conflicts over it. The show also touches on the dangers of unchecked technological advancements and the need for accountability and responsibility.

Overall, Burn Up Excess is a fun and exciting anime series that combines action, comedy, and romance in a way that is both entertaining and engaging. The characters are well-developed and interesting, and the storyline is well-crafted with lots of twists and turns. Whether you're a fan of sci-fi, action, or just good storytelling, this show is definitely worth a watch.
