The show follows the story of a high school student named Daichi Manatsu who is given the power to control a giant robot that is capable of defending against alien threats to Earth.

The show features a mix of action, sci-fi, and drama as the characters navigate the dangers of battling extraterrestrial forces. The series has a notable blend of traditional anime storytelling with high-quality animation, making it a standout in the genre.

The main character, Daichi Manatsu, is a young man who lost his father at a young age due to unknown circumstances. Daichi is joined in his adventures by a group of other pilots who also possess the ability to control giant mechs. These characters include Teppei Arashi, who has a mysterious past and a strong bond with his mech, and Hana Mutou, a young girl who possesses special powers that allow her to communicate with the mechs.

Throughout the series, the pilots battle a number of alien threats that seek to destroy Earth. These include the Kiltgang, a group of advanced beings who seek to harvest the life energy of humans to fuel their own existence. The Kiltgang are led by a mysterious and powerful figure known as the Designer, who has a connection to Daichi's past.

As the pilots continue to battle against the Kiltgang, they also grow closer to each other and uncover a number of secrets about their own pasts. The show explores themes of love, friendship, and the power of humanity to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges.
