Captain Scarlet is a CGI animated sci-fi action adventure series produced by Gerry Anderson for ITV. The show first premiered in 2005 and is based on the classic 1967 series of the same name. The new series updates the iconic characters and vehicles for a new generation of viewers while still paying homage to the original.

The series is set in the year 2068 and follows the exploits of Captain Scarlet, a member of the Spectrum Organisation, an elite group of soldiers tasked with defending Earth from the threats of the Mysterons, a race of beings with the power to re-create anything they destroy.

The show's central conflict is the ongoing war between Spectrum and the Mysterons. The Mysterons have declared war on Earth after a high-ranking Spectrum officer was accidentally killed on a mission to Mars. The Mysterons have the ability to take control of any object they have destroyed and use it as a weapon against their enemies. Spectrum's mission is to neutralize these objects and protect Earth from the Mysterons' attacks.

Captain Scarlet is the ultimate hero of the series. He's a fearless fighter pilot with an array of high-tech gadgets at his disposal. Scarlett is also the only member of Spectrum to have been successfully "reconstructed" after being killed by the Mysterons, which gives him the unique ability to detect when the Mysterons are planning an attack.

The rest of the cast is made up of the other members of Spectrum, each with their own specialized skills and personalities. Captain Blue is Scarlett's best friend and has a no-nonsense approach to fighting the Mysterons. Colonel White is the commander of Spectrum and is always calm and collected, even in the face of imminent danger. Captain Black is a former Spectrum member who was taken over by the Mysterons and turned into their ultimate weapon.

The show's animation style is sleek and stylish, with highly detailed characters and impressive special effects. The vehicles used by Spectrum are state-of-the-art and are used to great effect in the show's action sequences.

One of the hallmarks of the series is its attention to detail. Each episode is packed with references to the original series, as well as nods to other sci-fi classics like Star Wars and Blade Runner.

The show's themes are classic sci-fi fare, with a focus on the dangers of technology and the power of teamwork in the face of adversity. The series also deals with issues of morality and ethics, with some episodes questioning the morality of Spectrum's actions in the ongoing war with the Mysterons.

Captain Scarlet is a fantastic sci-fi action adventure series that stands alongside the best of the genre. The show's top-notch animation, compelling characters, and engaging storylines make it an essential watch for fans of all ages. Whether you're a fan of the original series or are discovering Captain Scarlet for the first time, this show is sure to deliver plenty of thrills and excitement.

Captain Scarlet is a series that is currently running and has 2 seasons (45 episodes). The series first aired on September 29, 1967.
