Ep 1. Give Me a Ring Sometime

Cheers is a classic TV sitcom that aired from 1982 to 1993. Set in a bar in Boston, the show follows the lives and relationships of the bar's regulars as they go about their daily lives. Season 1, Episode 1, entitled "Give Me a Ring Sometime," is the pilot episode of the series.

Norm and Cliff provide comic relief, with Norm always wanting another beer and Cliff spouting off useless trivia.

Throughout the episode, we see flashbacks of Diane's life with Sumner, as she reflects on their relationship and how it has changed over time. We also learn that she is a graduate student in literature and has a keen mind.

As the bar closes for the night, Diane is still stranded without a ride. Sam offers to drive her home, but when they arrive, Diane realizes that she has lost her keys. Sam suggests that she spend the night at his place, but Diane is hesitant at first. However, she eventually agrees and spends the night at Sam's apartment.

In the morning, Diane wakes up to find that Sam has slept on the couch. She is embarrassed about the situation and rushes out of the apartment without saying goodbye. When she returns to the bar later that day to retrieve her keys, she and Sam have a contentious conversation, with Diane accusing him of trying to take advantage of her. However, Sam remains calm and tells her that he just wanted to help her out.

Overall, "Give Me a Ring Sometime" is a strong introduction to the Cheers world. The episode sets the stage for the relationships and conflicts that will drive the series and introduces us to a cast of characters that are both funny and relatable. With its witty dialogue, memorable characters, and clever writing, Cheers would go on to become one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time.
