Code Lyoko is a French animated television series that follows the adventures of a group of middle school students as they enter the virtual world of Lyoko to battle evil entities and save the world from destruction. The show was produced by Moonscoop and was first released in 2003, running till 2007. The series is popular for its unique mix of action, sci-fi, and humor that captures the imagination of viewers of all ages.

The storyline revolves around the main character, Jeremie Belpois, a super-smart computer genius who creates a virtual world called Lyoko. He discovers a sinister computer virus known as XANA while working on Lyoko and creates a team consisting of his classmates Ulrich Stern, Odd Della Robbia, Yumi Ishiyama and later, Aelita Schaeffer, to fight against XANA. Jeremie and his friends must work together to protect the world from XANA's evil plan to take over the real world by attacking it through Lyoko.

The main characters are a diverse group of middle-schoolers, each with their unique strengths and weaknesses. Jeremie is the brains behind the team and is responsible for operating and maintaining Lyoko. Ulrich is the team's expert fighter and has an almost ninja-like fighting style. Odd, on the other hand, is the comic relief with his quirky personality and unpredictable moves, while Yumi is a fearless young woman and a skilled fighter. Aelita Schaeffer, the virtual girl, is the final addition to the team, a useful asset due to her abilities to access and control Lyoko's inner workings.

The villains in the show are the evil computer programs known as XANA, which acts as the main antagonist, threatening the world's existence. XANA is an intelligent entity that continuously evolves and replicates itself, constantly changing its methods of attack. Whenever it attacks, the Warriors Lyoko must fight back while also keeping their real-life safe from the destruction caused due to XANA's attacks.

The show is known for its unique 2 D/3 D style of animation, with a mix of cell-shading and CGI that gave the show a signature look. Additionally, the music in the show, which is a mix of techno beats, classical music, and rock music, adds to the show's action, suspense, and comedy elements.

The team's adventures take place in various environments in and around Lyoko, each with its unique set of challenges to overcome. The different regions are named as Forest, Mountain, Ice, and Desert, each representing different parts of the game. The team's objective is to gather information on XANA's plans and actions in each area, locating the Tower where XANA is operating from, and ultimately destroying the Tower to prevent XANA from carrying out its plans.

The character's relationships and their interactions are an essential aspect of the show. The romantic relationship between both Yumi and Ulrich and Aelita and Jeremie is a crucial plotline in the show. Jeremie's relationship with Aelita is especially significant as he is responsible for her creation and is obsessed with protecting her from harm.

Overall, Code Lyoko is an exciting show filled with action and suspense, but it also uses a unique plot design that engages viewers' empathy and curiosity to see how the team will overcome the obstacles in their way. This show also has a fantastic theme music along with a cast of fun characters making it an all-around great watch.

Code Lyoko is a series that is currently running and has 4 seasons (103 episodes). The series first aired on November 15, 2010.
