Ep 2. Miss Congeniality (Yakima County, WA)

In Cold Justice season 3 episode 2, entitled "Miss Congeniality," the team travels to Yakima County, Washington to investigate the brutal murder of a young beauty pageant contestant. The victim, 18-year-old Kelsee Dodd, was found hog-tied and strangled to death in the trunk of her car outside a city park in 2009.

Kelsee's murder rocked the tight-knit community, and despite an extensive investigation, no one has ever been charged with her killing. The case went cold, but now, with the help of former prosecutor Kelly Siegler and her team of detectives, they aim to bring justice to Kelsee and her family.

The investigation begins with the team re-interviewing witnesses and combing through old evidence. They discover that Kelsee was a popular and well-liked girl who had dreams of going to college and becoming a nurse. However, they also uncover a dark side to Kelsee's life, including a tumultuous relationship with her ex-boyfriend, who was known for violent behavior.

As Kelly and her team look deeper into the case, they face many hurdles, including unreliable witnesses and lack of physical evidence. However, they are determined to find Kelsee's killer and bring closure to her family.

The team also find that the evidence collected from the scene of the crime was insufficient for a successful conviction. They have to go through collection of vital evidence including DNA samples and fingerprints. An arsonist, a cold-blooded murderer, a drug addict, and a father are the key suspects after going through all the evidence. Kelly and her team have to crack the case using their extensive experience in criminal investigations.

As they inch closer to identifying a suspect, tensions run high, and the team faces setbacks and disappointments. However, they never give up, and in the end, they present the evidence they have gathered to the district attorney's office for review and consideration.
