Ep 2. To the Bat Cave

In Comic Book Men's third season, we get to enjoy a brand new episode called To the Bat Cave. The show takes place at Kevin Smith's comic book shop in Red Bank, New Jersey, and follows the daily happenings of the staff and customers.

In this episode, we see the guys going wild over one of the most iconic superhero comics of all time - Batman. It all starts with a man bringing in a life-sized Batman statue to the shop, which immediately catches the attention of the staff. They start having fun posing with it and strike some of the famous Batman poses.

The next thing we see is the staff geeking out over some of the most coveted Batman comics. They get their hands on original issue Batman #121 from 1959, which contains the story of Batwoman's origin - a character first introduced in 1956's Detective Comics, who supposedly saved the caped crusader a couple of times. They speculate on who the new Batwoman might be in the upcoming Batwoman TV show set in the Arrowverse.

It's not long until they delve into the world of Batman toys, and the shops director, Walt Flanagan, shows off a Batmobile toy from 1989. They argue whether it's the best Batmobile ever designed, and whether Keaton, Kilmer, or Affleck was the most suited Batman to use it.

The highlight of the show comes when they uncover a mysterious Batman item that nobody has seen before. It's so rare, even Ralph Garman - co-host of Smith and Garman's Fat Man Beyond, is taken aback by it. It's non-other than a prestigious Batman diploma that was handed out in the 1970s. The diploma makes the crew curious about what it takes to become a protector of Gotham and how one gets a degree in batmanology.

As the episode continues, we see the Comic Book Men get into some pretty thick debates about the various Batman items they've come across. We also get to see some familiar faces in the shop, including a visit from the creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Kevin Eastman.

Overall, this episode is an excellent a peek into what's in store for the fans of Comic Book Men. The show combines laughter, enthusiasm, and in-depth comic book knowledge, making it a must-see for any comic book or superhero enthusiasts. It's a showcase that demonstrates the passion real comic book collectors have and the secrets hidden in the corners of the shops they frequent.
