Ep 3. To Find a Friend

In Cougar Town season 6 episode 3, titled "To Find a Friend," the gang is on a mission to find Jules a new best friend after Ellie gets too busy to hang out with her. Meanwhile, Grayson tries to teach Bobby how to be a ladies' man, but his advice backfires when Bobby starts hitting on Jules instead. The episode begins with Jules feeling lonely after Ellie gets a new job and doesn't have time to hang out anymore. At the wine tasting, Jules meets Holly, a brash and outspoken woman who quickly takes a liking to Jules. Jules is initially put off by Holly's style, but ultimately decides to give her a chance. They bond over their love of wine and their mutual dislike of their ex-husbands. Jules is thrilled to have found a new best friend.

Meanwhile, Grayson is trying to teach Bobby how to pick up women. He takes Bobby out to a bar to show him the ropes, but things quickly go awry when Bobby starts hitting on Jules instead of the women Grayson had in mind. Grayson is frustrated that his plan didn't work, but he quickly realizes that he's actually jealous of Jules and Bobby's growing friendship.

As Jules and Holly's friendship blossoms, the rest of the gang starts to feel left out. Ellie confesses to Andy that she's worried about losing her best friend to Holly. Laurie, meanwhile, is annoyed that Jules is spending so much time with Holly and not with her.

Everything comes to a head when Jules invites Holly over for dinner and everyone else realizes that they don't like her. Holly is too loud, too opinionated, and too brash for their taste. They try to be polite, but it's clear that they're not thrilled about Jules' new friendship.

After dinner, Jules takes Holly home and they have a heart-to-heart. Holly admits that she's been trying to be someone she's not because she's so desperate for a friend. Jules realizes that she's been doing the same thing, trying to find a replacement for Ellie instead of just enjoying the new people in her life.

The next day, Jules tells everyone that she's not looking for a new best friend anymore. She's happy with the friends she has, and she doesn't need to replace anyone. Everyone is relieved, and they all realize that they're grateful for each other. They may not always get along, but they're a family, and that's all that matters.

"To Find a Friend" is an episode about the importance of friendship and the value of being yourself. Jules learns that she doesn't need to replace Ellie to be happy, and Holly learns that she doesn't need to be someone she's not to have friends.
