Ep 6. I've Got The Power

In season 5 episode 6 of Couples Therapy, titled "I've Got The Power," the couples continue to delve into their deeply-rooted issues and test the boundaries of their relationships.

First up, Kailyn and Javi struggle to communicate effectively, as they both have differing views on what is considered supportive in a relationship. Kailyn feels like Javi isn't there for her emotionally, while Javi believes he is doing everything he can to be a good partner. Dr. Jenn helps them explore their communication styles and why they may not feel heard by the other person.

Next, Asifa and Bobby confront their own power dynamics in their relationship. Asifa feels like Bobby doesn't listen to her opinions or allow her to have a say in decisions, while Bobby feels like Asifa doesn't trust him enough to let him take charge. Dr. Jenn challenges them to examine their patterns of behavior and determine if they are truly happy with the way things are or if they need to make changes.

Juan Pablo and Nikki also continue to struggle with communication, as Juan Pablo finds it difficult to express his emotions and Nikki feels shut out. Dr. Jenn encourages Juan Pablo to open up and be vulnerable with Nikki, while also guiding Nikki on how to be patient and understanding with Juan Pablo's hesitance to share his feelings.

Finally, Dr. Jenn brings all the couples together for a group exercise on power struggles in relationships. The couples are forced to confront their own insecurities and fears when it comes to giving or taking power in their relationships. They also have the opportunity to see how their behavior affects the other couples, providing a unique perspective on their own situation.

As the season progresses, it becomes clear that these couples have a long way to go in order to build trust, communicate effectively, and establish healthy power dynamics in their relationships. Will they be able to overcome their hurdles and come out stronger on the other side? Only time will tell.
