Crime Story is a crime drama television series that aired on NBC from 1986 to 1988. The series stars Dennis Farina as Lieutenant Mike Torello, an emphatic detective in the organized crime task force in Chicago, who sets out to take down notorious crime boss Ray Luca (Anthony Denison).

The first season of the show revolved around the pursuit of Luca, as Torello and his team investigate his various criminal activities. Luca is portrayed as a ruthless and cunning gangster who is not afraid to use violence and intimidation to achieve his goals. Meanwhile, Torello is shown to be a dedicated and honest cop who is willing to go to great lengths to catch the bad guys.

As the series progresses, we see various other characters introduced, including Pauli Taglia (John Santucci), Luca's right-hand man, and Frank Holman (Bill Smitrovich), a member of Torello's team. These characters add depth to the storyline and help to build the tension and drama of the show.

One of the standout performances in the series is by Anthony Denison, who is excellent as the menacing Ray Luca. He is a charming and charismatic villain who commands the respect of his criminal associates and instills fear in those who oppose him. His portrayal of Luca is chillingly realistic and provides a fascinating insight into the world of organized crime.

Another standout performer is Dennis Farina, who is excellent as the tough and streetwise Torello. He is a dedicated cop who is not afraid to bend the rules to get the job done. He is also a complex character who has a troubled personal life, which adds depth to the series.

Stephen Lang does a great job as the ruthless federal prosecutor, John Boyle, who is also trying to take down Luca. His character provides an interesting counterpoint to Torello, as he is willing to use any means necessary to get a conviction.

Other notable performances come from Steve Ryan as Torello's partner, Ted Levine as a hired killer working for Luca, and Andrew Dice Clay as a small-time criminal.

The show is set in 1960s Chicago, and the attention to detail in the sets and costumes is impressive. The series also features an excellent soundtrack, which includes classic songs from the era.

In addition to the investigation of Luca, the show also explores various other storylines, including Torello's relationship with his wife (Johann Carlo) and his ongoing battle with alcoholism. These personal storylines add depth to the characters and help to make the show more engaging.

Overall, Crime Story is an excellent crime drama that is well worth watching. It features great performances, an engaging storyline, and a fantastic setting. It is a must-watch for fans of the genre and anyone looking for a gripping and entertaining television series.

Crime Story is a series that is currently running and has 2 seasons (44 episodes). The series first aired on September 17, 1986.
