In season 51 episode 8 of Days of Our Lives titled Ep. #12721, the drama in Salem continues to escalate and tensions have reached an all-time high. The episode opens with Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) confronting Belle Black (Martha Madison) about her involvement in the custody battle over Sami's son. Belle insists that her intentions were good and that she was only trying to protect the child, but Sami is not convinced.

Meanwhile, Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) is struggling with his feelings for Abby (Kate Mansi) and Gwen (Emily O'Brien). He confides in his brother Stefano (Stephen Nichols) about his dilemma, but Stefano only encourages him to focus on the DiMera family business and forget about his love life.

Elsewhere in Salem, Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) continues to try and prove his innocence in the murder of his sister Jordan. He enlists the help of his former flame Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) to gather evidence that will exonerate him. However, their investigation takes a dangerous turn when they cross paths with Clyde Weston (James Read), Ben's abusive father.

In addition to all the drama happening in Salem, there is also a new face in town. Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun), a former flame of Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols), has returned to Salem after years of being presumed dead. Her arrival creates tension between Steve and his current love interest, Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans).

As the episode unfolds, relationships are tested and secrets are exposed, leaving the future of many of Salem's residents uncertain. Will Chad choose between Abby and Gwen?
