From their Dutch Harbor studio, the Bering Sea Captains celebrate the long awaited return of the Cornelia Marie and its new captain, Josh Harris. But Josh is not going to get off that easy. He has a lot of questions to answer.
For the past 8 seasons of Deadliest Catch, Josh�??s entire life has been on display. We remind viewers of Josh�??s ups and downs from his rookie year to the death of his dad, Captain Phil Harris. But now that Josh is at the helm, he has a lot of decisions to make and a lot of responsibilities--chief among them filling his crab quota so he can continue to make the payments on his boat. Fortunately, the rookie skipper has a co-captain in Casey McManus. We meet Casey in a funny ENG piece. But the future of the Cornelia Marie definitely depends on how Josh and Casey work together.
One cannot talk about Josh Harris without wondering how his brother Jake is doing. We briefly explore Jake�??s battle against addiction and then move on to another recovering addict, Elliot Neese. Elliot finally decided to take the huge step of entering rehab, and now he faces the Captains�?? tough questioning in the Hot Seat.
Next up is our ever-popular Best of Catch segment�??although tonight�??s category, �??Ice�?�, is anything but popular among the Captains. In this high energy act, we explore the many ways in which ice makes the crews lives miserable. Fortunately, a pretty young woman joins the captains to warm up the conversation. It�??s Sig Hansen�??s daughter, Mandy. Her dream is to fish with her dad, but before she can get on board, she has to pass a test in our Bait studio: getting into a survival suit in under one minute.
Fathers and sons are the subject of the next act when Scotty Hillstrand and Zack Wichrowski join their dads on set. But the captains show no mercy as they grill these two young men about their relationships with their dads and other crew members.
We finish the show with another round of Best of Catch: Ice with the captains agreeing the only good place for ice is in a drink.
