In Deadly 60 season 1 episode 1 titled "Big Cat Battleground," wildlife presenter Steve Backshall sets out on a mission to find the world's deadliest big cats. From the African savannah to the Asian jungle, Backshall tracks the elusive predators and finally reveals what makes them so deadly.

The episode begins with Backshall in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. He wants to find the most dangerous big cat in Africa, the lion. He sets up camp and spends the night listening to the lions roar in the distance. The next day, he heads out with his camera crew to find the lions. Backshall sets up a hide made of grass and reeds to observe the lions from a safe distance. He watches as a pride of lions hunts down a young wildebeest and takes it down in a matter of seconds. It's a gruesome sight but it's all part of the circle of life in the savannah.

Next, Backshall heads to India to find the Royal Bengal tiger, the largest big cat in the world. He meets with a tiger expert who takes him on a boat ride through the mangroves to find the tigers. They spot a tigress with her two cubs and Backshall sets up a hide to observe them. He watches as the tigress teaches her cubs how to hunt and survive in the wild. Backshall is in awe of the power and grace of the tigers and how they are perfectly adapted to their environment.

In Malaysia, Backshall searches for the elusive clouded leopard, one of the smallest big cats in the world. With the help of a local guide, Backshall sets up a hide in the jungle and waits for the clouded leopard to appear. He waits and waits but the leopard is nowhere to be seen. Backshall decides to take matters into his own hands and sets up a camera trap to capture footage of the clouded leopard. The next day, he checks the camera and is thrilled to find footage of the clouded leopard. He explains how the leopard has unique adaptations such as long legs and a long tail to help it climb trees and hunt in the dense forest.

Finally, Backshall heads to the Arctic to find the polar bear, the deadliest big cat in the world. He sets up camp on the edge of a frozen sea and waits for the polar bears to appear. He observes a mother polar bear with her two cubs as they hunt for seals on the ice. Backshall explains how the polar bear has adapted to the harsh conditions of the Arctic and how its black skin helps it absorb the sun's rays to keep warm.

Throughout the episode, Backshall shares fascinating facts about each big cat and how they have adapted to their environment. He also emphasizes the importance of conservation efforts to protect these magnificent creatures and their habitats.

Overall, "Big Cat Battleground" is an exciting and informative episode of Deadly 60. Backshall's passion for wildlife is contagious and his enthusiasm for big cats is evident throughout the episode. The stunning footage of the big cats in their natural habitats is breathtaking and will leave viewers in awe of their power and beauty.
