Ep 1. Pilot

In the pilot episode of Death Valley, viewers are introduced to the world of the Undead Task Force (UTF). The show is set in a version of Los Angeles where paranormal creatures like vampires, werewolves, and zombies have become commonplace, and the UTF has been established to deal with them.

The episode opens with a mockumentary-style introduction to the world, with various characters discussing their experiences with the supernatural. We then meet our protagonist, Officer Billy Pierce (played by Texas Battle), a new recruit to the UTF who's eager to prove himself.

Billy is partnered with Officer John "John-John" Johnson (played by Bryce Johnson), a veteran UTF officer who's seen it all and is somewhat jaded. They're tasked with investigating a disturbance at a local residence where a zombie has been reported.

Upon arriving at the house, they find a group of teenage boys who have accidentally awakened a dormant zombie that had been buried in the backyard. The zombie is quickly dispatched, but things take a turn when they discover that the boys have been using a drug called "Z" to get high.

Billy and John-John's investigation leads them to a drug dealer who's been lacing the Z with zombie brain matter, causing users to turn into zombies themselves. The episode culminates in a showdown between the UTF and a group of zombie drug users, with Billy getting a chance to prove himself in the heat of battle.

Interspersed with the main plotline are a series of smaller vignettes that give viewers a taste of the various paranormal creatures that exist in this world. We meet a vampire who's struggling to adjust to modern life, a werewolf who's dealing with relationship troubles, and a group of zombies who've started a support group.

Overall, the pilot episode of Death Valley does a great job of setting up the show's premise and introducing viewers to its world. The mockumentary style is a fun touch that sets it apart from other paranormal shows, and the mix of action and humor strikes just the right balance. Fans of shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural will definitely want to check this one out.
