Design on a Dime is a television show that follows homeowners as they work with designers to revamp their living spaces. Season 1, episode 4 centers around a young bachelor who wants to give his outdated apartment an Asian-inspired makeover.

The episode begins with the homeowner, Chris, giving a tour of his apartment. He explains that he has always had a fascination with Asian culture and wants his home to reflect that. However, he has a limited budget, and he knows that he won't be able to afford all of the items he needs to create his dream space. That's where the designers come in.

The first designer to work with Chris is Casey Noble. Noble is an interior designer who specializes in affordable luxury. Her strategy is to find high-end items at discount stores and flea markets, so that Chris can have a stylish home without breaking the bank.

Noble begins by focusing on the living room. She chooses an Asian-inspired color palette of red, black, and gold, and adds silk curtains and throw pillows to create a luxurious feel. She also finds a beautiful bamboo rug that adds texture to the space. To save money, Noble creates her own artwork by framing pieces of patterned wallpaper.

Next, Noble moves on to the dining area. She chooses a simple table and chairs set and adds a statement-making light fixture that is reminiscent of a Japanese lantern. She also creates a bamboo screen that separates the dining area from the living room.

The second designer to work with Chris is Frank Fontana. Fontana is an expert in DIY projects, and his mission is to create personalized accents that will give the apartment a unique look.

Fontana starts by focusing on the bedroom. He creates a custom headboard using bamboo fencing and adds a colorful Asian-inspired print to the wall. He also repurposes some wooden pallets to create a platform bed, which is perfect for Chris's modern style.

In the bathroom, Fontana creates a custom vanity out of an antique Asian cabinet. He also adds a bamboo towel rack and a carved wooden mirror to give the space a spa-like feel.

Finally, the third designer to work with Chris is Kahi Lee. Lee is an expert in creating functional spaces that look great. Her goal is to help Chris make the most of his small apartment.

Lee starts by focusing on the kitchen. She creates a custom backsplash using sticks of bamboo and adds a portable island that doubles as a dining table. She also creates a custom storage solution that maximizes the space in Chris's tiny pantry.

In the entryway, Lee creates a custom shoe storage solution using a simple bookshelf and some fabric. She also adds a mirror that is framed with bamboo to give the space a cohesive look.

Throughout the episode, Chris is amazed at how the designers are able to create a beautiful, cohesive space on such a limited budget. He loves the dark, moody color scheme and the personalized accents that make his home feel unique. By the end of the episode, Chris has an Asian-inspired apartment that is both stylish and functional, thanks to the talented team of Design on a Dime.
