As Dexter Morgan tries to navigate his double life as a blood splatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department and a vigilante serial killer, he faces a new challenge in season 2 episode 3 of Dexter titled An Inconvenient Lie. In this episode, the pressure on Dexter rises as he races against time to find the person who killed one of his recent victims.

At the start of the episode, Dexter finds himself in hot water when his coworker, Sergeant James Doakes, becomes suspicious of his behavior. Doakes starts tailing Dexter around town, hoping to catch him in the act of performing one of his murders. Dexter becomes increasingly paranoid and tries to distance himself from Doakes, but the pressure starts to take its toll.

Meanwhile, Dexter becomes embroiled in a new case when the body of a young woman is found in a park. The victim, a college student named Ellen Wolf, is found with her throat slit and a message written in her blood that reads "tick-tock, tick-tock." Dexter recognizes the message as a reference to his own code of ethics, and he knows that the killer is taunting him.

As Dexter investigates the case, he uncovers disturbing facts about Ellen's personal life. She had been in a relationship with a powerful lawyer named Miguel Prado, who is running for district attorney. Dexter starts to suspect that Miguel may be involved in her murder, and he begins to surveil him.

Meanwhile, Dexter starts to experience flashbacks to his childhood, when he witnessed his mother's brutal murder at the hands of a drug dealer. These flashbacks become more intense as the pressure in Dexter's life mounts, and he starts to question his own motivations for killing.

The tension comes to a head when Doakes catches Dexter in the act of stalking Miguel Prado. Dexter tries to bluff his way out of the situation, but Doakes is unconvinced. Dexter realizes that he is running out of time to find Ellen's killer before he is caught by the police.

In the final scenes of the episode, Dexter finally confronts Miguel Prado and accuses him of killing Ellen. Miguel denies the accusation, but Dexter is undeterred. As the two men face off, it becomes clear that Dexter is willing to do whatever it takes to get his man.

Overall, An Inconvenient Lie is a tense and suspenseful episode that builds on the complex relationships and character development of the first two seasons of Dexter. As Dexter struggles to balance his double life and evade detection, viewers are left on the edge of their seats, wondering what will happen next. The episode sets the stage for a thrilling season that is sure to keep audiences hooked.
