Ep 1. Guy's Hometown Tour

Guy Fieri is back and better than ever for the 19th season of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. In the first episode, titled "Guy's Hometown Tour," Guy is taking us on a trip down memory lane to show us some of his favorite spots from when he was growing up.

We start in Santa Rosa, California, where Guy grew up, and where he takes us to a classic diner that has been around since the 1930s. The food here is all about classic diner fare, and Guy can't get enough of the burgers and fries. He even takes a turn behind the grill to show off his skills.

Next up, we head to a place that serves up one of Guy's favorite dishes: tamales. This small, family-owned restaurant has been a staple in the community for decades, and they make some of the best tamales around. Guy digs into some pork and chicken tamales and gives us a lesson on the history of this classic dish.

Moving on, we hit up a seafood restaurant that specializes in one of Guy's favorite types of seafood: crab. This place has been in business for over 50 years, and they really know how to do crab right. Guy tries everything from crab cakes to crab cakes benedict.

Next, Guy takes us to a pizza place that he used to frequent as a kid. This place serves up classic New York-style pizza, and Guy can't get enough of the crispy crust and tangy sauce. He even gets to make his own pizza, and he shows off some of his signature pizza-making moves.

Finally, we head to a spot that serves up some of the best barbecue in the area. This place has been around for over 30 years, and they really know how to do slow-cooked meat right. Guy digs into some pulled pork and brisket and gives a nod to the pitmasters who spend hours tending to the smoke.

Throughout the episode, Guy shares stories from his childhood and talks about how these hometown favorites helped shape his love of food. He also gives us a few pointers on how to make some of the dishes at home.
