In the fifth episode of the 19th season of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, host Guy Fieri seeks out the most dynamic duos in the culinary world. The episode highlights restaurants with unique pairings and collaborations that create memorable dishes.

The first stop on Guy's journey is in Atlanta, Georgia, where he visits a barbecue joint that combines traditional southern smokehouse flavors with Korean-style marinades. The owners, a husband-and-wife team, are known for their brisket, which they slow-smoke for 12-14 hours, and their Korean pork belly, which they marinate for 48 hours. Guy samples their signature dish, Korean pork belly burnt ends, which are crispy and savory with a sweet and spicy finish.

Next, Guy heads to San Francisco, California, where he visits a restaurant that combines classic American diner fare with Mexican spices and flavors. The two owners, who are friends and former coworkers, serve up dishes like a breakfast burrito with chorizo and scrambled eggs, and a burger topped with homemade guacamole. Guy tries their most popular dish, the "Hangover Helper," which is a sandwich filled with bacon, sausage, egg, and cheese, served on a buttermilk biscuit.

In the third spot, Guy travels to Denver, Colorado, to visit a bakery owned by two sisters who specialize in gluten-free and paleo-friendly treats. The sisters, who are also trained chefs, use alternative flours like coconut and almond to make everything from muffins to breads. Guy samples their signature product, a Paleo chocolate chip cookie made with almond flour, coconut sugar, and dark chocolate chips.

Guy's next stop is in Cleveland, Ohio, where he visits a gastropub owned by two childhood friends who bonded over their love of craft beers and upscale pub food. The two friends, who have very different culinary backgrounds, combine their skills to create dishes like a Korean BBQ pork belly sandwich and a spicy chorizo mac and cheese. Guy tries their popular "Banh Mi Tacos," which are filled with pickled daikon and carrots, cilantro, and a choice of protein like fried chicken or seared tuna.

Finally, Guy ends his journey in Richmond, Virginia, where he visits a restaurant that celebrates the creative collaborations between local chefs and farmers. The owners, a chef and a farmer, work together to source the freshest seasonal ingredients and create dishes like a beet tartare and a pork belly and Brussels sprouts dish. Guy tries their signature dish, "Farm-to-Face," which features seasonal vegetables and meats served on a bed of creamy grits.

Throughout the episode, Guy showcases the unique relationships and collaborations that drive these restaurants to success. Each duo brings together a different set of skills and experiences to create dishes that are both innovative and delicious.
