Ep 3. Ellie & J.J. and Oscar

Ellie & J.J. and Oscar is the third episode of the seventh season of Dog Whisperer, a reality television series about renowned dog behaviorist Cesar Millan and his work rehabilitating problem dogs. In this episode, Cesar is called upon to help three different families with their troubled canines.

The first family Cesar meets with is the owners of Ellie and J.J., two Pomeranians who are very aggressive towards anyone who tries to touch them. The owners, a couple named Steve and Fiona, love Oscar dearly but find it very difficult to take him out for walks or to the park because of his behavior. Cesar observes that Oscar is very fearful and anxious, and that his owners have been overprotecting him and reinforcing his fearfulness. He works with the owners to establish themselves as confident pack leaders, showing Oscar that he can trust them to make the right decisions and keep him safe. Cesar also introduces Oscar to some other dogs, working to desensitize him to their presence and teach him more appropriate ways of interacting with them. Through these exercises, Oscar begins to lose some of his fearfulness and becomes more comfortable around other dogs.

The third family Cesar meets with is the owners of two Golden Retrievers named Belle and Beau. The dogs are very hyperactive and have a tendency to jump up on people and chew on furniture. The owners, a couple named Jeff and Amy, love their dogs but are getting fed up with their behavior. Cesar observes that Belle and Beau are getting too much exercise and not enough structure in their daily lives, leading to their hyperactivity. He works with the owners to establish more structure and rules for the dogs to follow, as well as teaching them how to redirect the dogs' energy into more appropriate activities such as fetching and obedience training. Gradually, Belle and Beau begin to calm down and follow their owners' commands more consistently.
