In season 4 of Doomsday Preppers, episode 1 titled "Back to Basics," viewers are introduced to several preppers who are taking a step back from elaborate survival plans and focusing on the essentials. The episode showcases several different preppers and their unique approaches to preparedness.

One prepper, named Brett, lives in a rural area and has extensive knowledge of primitive living skills. He believes that in a SHTF (shit hits the fan) situation, it will be important to know how to survive without modern technology. Brett has built a shelter out of natural materials, is proficient at fire starting, and has honed his hunting and trapping skills. He also has a collection of non-electric tools and is even teaching his young son how to live off the land.

Another prepper, named Bryan, is preparing for an economic collapse. He believes that the U.S. dollar is going to crash soon, and that a return to the barter system is inevitable. Bryan has stocked up on resources he believes will be valuable in the event of an economic crisis: alcohol, silver and gold coins, and ammunition. He also has a large garden and is raising several different animals, including chickens and rabbits.

A third prepper, named Carmela, is focusing on emergency preparedness in an urban environment. She has created a "bug-in" plan, which means that she is preparing to stay in her home in the event of a disaster, rather than trying to bug out to a safer location. Carmela has stored large amounts of food and water, and has also installed a backup generator and solar panels to ensure that she will have power during any emergency.

The episode also features a prepper named Julie, who is preparing for a global pandemic. Julie believes that a deadly virus could spread quickly and wipe out a large portion of the population. She has stockpiled medical supplies and has a plan in place for quarantining sick family members. She even has a supply of hazmat suits, in case she needs to venture out into a contaminated environment.

Throughout the episode, viewers see how each of these preppers is taking steps to ensure their survival in the event of a disaster. They are all dedicated and passionate about their preparedness plans, and are willing to put in the time, effort, and money necessary to make them a reality. The episode is a reminder that there are many different types of disasters that could strike, and that preparedness is key to surviving any of them.
