Ep 3. Chapter 9

In Chapter 9 of Eastbound and Down season 2, we find our protagonist, Kenny Powers, still struggling to find his footing after his baseball career comes to a screeching halt. In the previous episode, we saw Kenny return to his hometown in North Carolina and begin his new job as a physical education teacher at the local middle school. However, despite his efforts to start fresh, Kenny can't seem to shake his past and is still trying to live up to his former glory days as a professional athlete.

The episode kicks off with Kenny trying to impress his students by showing off his football skills. However, things quickly go awry when he accidentally injures a student and is forced to attend a parent-teacher conference with the boy's mother. He ends up getting kicked out of the party, but not before making a fool of himself in front of April and her new fiancé.

As the episode comes to a close, we see Kenny feeling defeated and lost once again. But just when all seems lost, he receives a mysterious package in the mail that leaves us on the edge of our seats, wondering what's next for this troubled hero.
