Ed, Edd n' Eddy season 3 episode 1, "Wish You Were Ed," begins with a bored Eddy trying to come up with new schemes to make money. He is interrupted by his friends Ed and Edd (also known as Double D), who suggest they play a game of tag. Eddy, not interested in playing a child's game, decides to come up with a new scheme.
He hatches a plan to sell "wish stars" to the kids in the neighborhood. The stars are small and come with instructions on how to make a wish. The trio begins to sell the stars, but it quickly becomes clear that the stars do not work. The kids who buy them are disappointed and angry.
Meanwhile, Sarah, Ed's younger sister, is upset that her pen pal from Egypt has stopped writing to her. She tearfully tells Ed and Edd about her concerns. Eddy, overhearing their conversation, sees an opportunity for profit. He suggests they sell Sarah a "special" wish star that will make her pen pal write her back.
Unbeknownst to Sarah, Eddy gives her a broken star and tells her to make her wish outside under the stars. He and the other boys plan to sneak up and pretend to be her pen pal, but their plan backfires when Sarah sees through their disguise.
Feeling guilty, Eddy apologizes to Sarah and confesses what he did. Sarah forgives him and says that she just wants a genuine friend, not a fake pen pal. The trio realizes that their schemes often hurt their friends and resolves to turn over a new leaf and be better people. The episode ends with the boys sending a message of friendship to the kids in the neighborhood.
Overall, "Wish You Were Ed" is a heartwarming episode that teaches an important lesson about the value of honesty and genuine friendship. Fans of the series will love to see their favorite characters learning and growing, while newcomers will be drawn in by the show's charming humor and endearing cast.
