However, things take a turn when an assassin hired by one of the traitorous nobles attempts to kill Empress Ki. Fortunately, she is saved by Wang Yoo, who reveals himself and shows that he is on her side. This earns him the Empress's gratitude and Ta Hwan's suspicion.

As the episode draws to a close, Empress Ki and Wang Yoo find themselves drawn to each other despite their political differences. They share a moment, but Empress Ki soon realizes that their paths are different and that they cannot be together.
