Ep 2. Driving Frank

In the Everybody Loves Raymond season 3 episode 2 titled Driving Frank, the Barone family is faced with a problem when Frank, the patriarch of the family, is no longer able to drive. This leaves Marie, his wife, with the responsibility of driving him everywhere he needs to go. Marie is overwhelmed with this new task, so she asks Debra, her daughter-in-law, to help her out by driving Frank to his appointments. While Debra is happy to help, she quickly realizes that driving Frank around is no easy task.

As Debra takes Frank to his appointments, she quickly realizes that he is a terrible backseat driver, constantly criticizing her every move. She also discovers that Frank has a habit of talking to himself while they're driving, which makes Debra feel uneasy. After one particularly difficult day of driving Frank around, Debra decides to confront him about his behavior. She explains to him that she's doing her best to help him, but he needs to stop criticizing her driving and talking to himself while they're on the road.

Meanwhile, Ray, Debra's husband and Frank's son, is dealing with his own set of problems. He's been having trouble sleeping and decides to try some of Marie's home remedies to help him relax. However, the remedies end up making Ray feel worse and he winds up having a nightmare that involves his family. Ray wakes up feeling anxious and decides to talk to his wife about his problems. Debra is sympathetic and agrees to help Ray work through his issues.

As the episode continues, tensions rise between Frank and Debra as they continue to clash while driving around. However, in a moment of vulnerability, Frank admits to Debra that he's scared of losing his independence and having to rely on others for help. This touches Debra, and she realizes that Frank's behavior might be a result of his fear. With this newfound understanding, Debra and Frank are able to work through their issues and find a way to make their driving arrangement work.

At the end of the episode, the family comes together for a dinner at Marie and Frank's house. The dinner is a success, with everyone getting along and having a good time. As the night comes to a close, Frank thanks Debra for all of her help and admits that he was wrong to criticize her driving. He promises to be a better passenger from then on, which brings a smile to Debra's face. The episode ends on a positive note, with the family feeling closer than ever.
