Ep 4. Sex Talk

Ray and Debra are attempting to have an intimate night together, but unexpectedly, Marie crashes their plans and walks in on them. Shortly after, Robert starts giving Ray tips on how to improve his love life. Although initially hesitant, Ray eventually takes Robert’s advice and decides to talk to Michael, his 11-year-old son, about sex. Despite Debra’s apprehension, Ray convinces her that it’s time for Michael to learn about the “birds and the bees.”

Ray and Debra discuss how they will handle the subject with Michael, practicing different approaches and phrases. However, their nerves get the best of them and they both struggle to find the right words. After much back and forth, Ray decides to ask Robert for advice. Little does Ray know, Robert had overheard their conversation and had already set a plan in motion to use the situation to his advantage.

Robert decides to help Ray out with “the talk” and teaches Michael about sex using a surprise demonstration. Ray is furious and yells at Robert for going behind his back, but Robert insists that he had their best interest at heart and just wanted to help. Debra is also upset with Robert but is relieved that Michael now knows the basics.

Over the next few days, the fallout from the awkward sex talk lingers. Ray is mortified and worries that he has ruined Michael’s childhood. Debra tries to comfort him and assures him that everything will be fine. Marie, however, can’t resist her usual meddling and starts asking Michael inappropriate questions about his knowledge on the subject.

Ray asks Robert to come over to talk and makes peace with him. They both apologize and move forward. In the final scene, Ray, Debra, and Michael are all sitting on the couch watching TV. Michael asks if he can go outside and play basketball with his friends, to which Ray replies, “Sure thing, buddy.” Debra then turns to Ray and tells him that they are good parents and did the right thing. Ray smiles in agreement, and they all continue to watch TV together as the credits roll.
