Expedition Impossible is a live action hybrid between a game show and reality series. It pits a number of teams against each other in a race across the nation of Morocco. The series was created by reality game show veteran Mark Burnett.

Thirteen teams comprised of three members apiece participated in Expedition Impossible, each with a unique twist. For example, The Football Players were three former NFL players and friends who first met while in college. Another team, No Limits, featured a soldier, a blind man named Erik, and the friend who guided Erik on his mountaineering quests. Other teams comprised of crews from fishing trawlers, international travelers, police officers, and firefighters.

Expedition Impossible was run in ten stages, starting in the Moroccan city of Merzouga and sending the teams on a 2,000 mile journey through the Sahara Desert and the Atlas Mountains. Each stage was comprised of checkpoints and challenges. For instance, one episode of the series require the teams to locate an Arabian horse outpost and ride said horses to the next checkpoint where they would kayak a four miles downriver and eventually trek two miles to an old bridge to reach a finish line in a hidden campsite. The team to reach the final checkpoint last at the end of each stage was eliminated from competition. During the final stage of the game the first team to cross the finish line won $150,000. Each member of the team also received a new SUV.

Expedition Impossible was produced by Mark Burnett Production in association with the American television network ABC. It was hosted by Dave Salmoni. Expedition Impossible ran on ABC from June to August 2011. The show was not picked up for a second season.
