Fantasy Island was a television series that aired from 1998 to 1999 on Sony entertainment channel. It was a drama series which was a reboot of the classic television series of the same title that aired from 1977 to 1984. The series was created by Gene Levitt and directed by various directors including Robert Mandel, Michael Lange, and Mark Rosner. The show starred Malcolm McDowell as Mr. Roarke and Ricardo Montalbán as his assistant, Tattoo.

The show was set on an island in the Pacific Ocean called Fantasy Island. This island was a magical place that could fulfill the wildest desires of its guests. Mr. Roarke and Tattoo were the hosts of the island, and they were the ones who could make the guests' dreams come true. The guests would come with their fantasies, and Mr. Roarke and Tattoo would help them live those fantasies to the fullest. The island had everything from exotic locations, beautiful women, luxurious accommodations, and exciting adventures.

Each episode of the show featured a new guest with a new fantasy that they wanted to fulfill. The fantasies ranged from the romantic to the adventurous, and some were very unusual. The guests would arrive on the island, and Mr. Roarke would greet them with his famous line, "Welcome to Fantasy Island." Then the guests would go to their accommodations, and their fantasies would begin to unfold.

The star of the show, Malcolm McDowell, played the enigmatic Mr. Roarke who served as a gatekeeper for guests who desired to conquer their deepest fantasies. Mr. Roarke was a complex character. At times he appeared to be benevolent, at other times he was enigmatic, playing his cards close to his chest. Mr. Roarke was the one in control of the island and the one who could make the guests' fantasies come to life. He was a master of illusions and would often surprise guests with unexpected twists in their fantasies. He was always calm, cool and collected even when he was involved in the passions and secrets of his guests.

Ricardo Montalban played the role of Tattoo, Mr. Roarke's loyal and devoted assistant. Tattoo was the only permanent character on the show and was a key element of the program's success. He welcomed the guests to the island, showed them around, and assisted Mr. Roarke in making their fantasies come true. Tattoo was a small but charismatic character with a unique catchphrase, "De plane, de plane!" which he would use whenever a plane would arrive on the island.

The show also had a regular cast of characters who were residents of the island. There was the beautiful and vivacious Ariel (Mädchen Amick) who was a shape-shifter and a seductive temptress. She had the ability to transform herself into any character that was required for the fantasy. There was also Cal (Edward Hibbert), the island's bookkeeper, who was flamboyant and eagerly assisted guests. Dr. Vincent (Fyvush Finkel) was the island's resident pharmacist and medic, who always had a remedy for whatever ailed the guests.

Overall, Fantasy Island was a show that captured the imagination of its viewers, offering them an escape from the reality of their everyday lives. The show offered a unique blend of drama, romance and adventure. It was an exploration of the human psyche and the power of the imagination. The show's setting provided a beautiful backdrop for the action to take place, and the guest stars each week brought a new dimension to the program's formula. Fantasy Island was a magical and charming show that would entertain audiences of all ages.

Fantasy Island is a series that is currently running and has 7 seasons (153 episodes). The series first aired on August 11, 2021.
