Flower Boy Ramen Shop is a South Korean romantic comedy that follows the story of a young woman Yang Eun-bi, who is played by Lee Chung-ah. Eun-bi is a student at a university studying to take her civil service exam and assists in teaching classes at a high school in order to become a teacher herself. In the opening sequence of the show, Eun-bi says she is serious about her career goal but seems less than passionate about it, despite what she claims to those around her.

After being publicly dumped by her boyfriend when she sees him with another girl, she meets an arrogant young man by the name of Cha Chi-soo, played by Jung Il-woo. Soon after, she encounters Chi-soo on her university campus and asks him to go out with her. However, she is taken aback to learn that he is a high school student.

Eun-bi's father, who owns and operates a local ramen shop, tells her that she is not suited to teaching upon a few mishaps with her students, including Chi-soo. Eun-bi looks down on her father for taking care of troubled youths instead of focusing on running a profitable business. After her father dies, she discovers that he left the ramen shop to Lee Ki-woo's character of Choi Kang-hyuk, a man her father had taken under his wing as a youth. After losing her student-teaching assignment several altercations involving Chi-soo, Eun-bi starts to work at the ramen shop with Kang-Hyuk, in addition to her childhood friend Kim Ba-wool, played by Park Min-Woo, and Chi-soo's confidante Woo Hyun-woo, played by Jo Yoon-woo.

Soon Kang-Hyuk gives Chi-soo a job at the restaurant, but he does this harboring a secret. Chi-soo soon realizes his true feelings for Eun-bi, who repeatedly rejects him because he's a womanizer and she wants a serious relationship. Kang Hyuk and Chi-soo compete for Eun-bi's hand, but there are so many obstacles in the way - will love win in the end?
