Ep 18. The Queens Hotel

Four in a Bed season 3 episode 18, titled The Queens Hotel, takes place in a traditional, family-run hotel in Lytham St Anne's, Lancashire. The hotel, owned by Karen and John, boasts 18 en-suite bedrooms, a bar, and a restaurant.

The first to arrive is self-proclaimed "foodie" Stephen, who owns a bistro in Blackpool with his partner, Sarah. Stephen is impressed with the newly-refurbished decor, but finds fault with the size of the room and lack of snacks in the room's mini-fridge. Next to arrive are twins Gemma and Della, who own a B&B in Cleethorpes. The sisters are delighted with their spacious room, especially its king-sized bed, but are put off by the sound of the nearby train station.

Third to arrive are Cheryl and Mike, who own a B&B in the Lake District. The couple are pleased with the hotel's close proximity to the beach, but are less impressed with the quality of the toiletries provided in the bathroom. Finally, Maggie and Ruth, who run a B&B in Edinburgh, arrive. The pair are taken aback by the size of their room, and are disappointed to find a cobweb and several dead flies in the bathroom.

Throughout the episode, the guests take part in various activities, including a trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and a visit to a local brewery. They also sample the hotel's fare, with mixed reviews. Stephen is underwhelmed with his dinner, finding the portion size too small, while Cheryl and Mike are impressed with their breakfast, which includes home-baked bread.

After their stay, the guests meet to discuss their experiences and to rate the hotel. Despite some minor grievances, all four couples praise the friendliness of the staff and the hotel's charming atmosphere. However, tensions arise when some of the guests question the authenticity of John and Karen's "family business," suggesting that the hotel might be a front for their real estate investments.

Despite this, the couples come to a consensus on their ratings, with the final total revealing a clear winner.
