Fraggle Rock is a beloved television show from the 1980s that was produced by Jim Henson's company and aired on HBO for five seasons from 1983 to 1987. The show was a unique blend of puppetry, music, and humor that was enjoyed by both children and adults alike. The show takes place in the subterranean world of Fraggle Rock, a place inhabited by a colorful cast of characters. The main protagonists are the Fraggles, small furry creatures that live in underground caves and spend their days playing, singing, and exploring. The Fraggles are carefree and playful, but they also have a strong sense of community and a deep respect for the natural world around them.

Fraggle Rock is not just a world inhabited by Fraggles, however. There are also Doozers, tiny green workers who live in underground factories and spend their time constructing elaborate structures out of edible building materials. The Doozers are hardworking and industrious, but they are also good-natured and always willing to help their Fraggle friends in times of need.

In addition to the Fraggles and the Doozers, there is also a group of large, grumpy creatures called the Gorgs who live in a nearby castle. The Gorgs are not evil or malevolent, but they are often obstacles for the Fraggles, who must avoid being seen by the larger creatures while they explore the world around them.

The show was known for its catchy, upbeat music, which was an integral part of every episode. Each episode featured at least one original song, typically performed by the cast of puppets, that would often include a fun and educational message for the audience to take away. The music was such an important part of the show that it spawned several albums and even a stage musical adaptation.

The cast of puppeteers who brought the characters of Fraggle Rock to life were some of the best in the business. Jerry Nelson played Gobo Fraggle, the main protagonist of the show, as well as several other characters including Pa Gorg and Marjory the Trash Heap. Gerard Parkes played Doc, the only human character in the show who acted as a friend and ally to the Fraggles. Dave Goelz played Boober Fraggle, the anxious and somewhat neurotic member of the Fraggle gang, as well as several other characters including Traveling Matt and Philo. Steve Whitmire played Wembley Fraggle, the perpetually young and naive member of the group, as well as Sprocket, the dog who belonged to Doc. Kathryn Mullen played Mokey Fraggle, the dreamy and artistic member of the group, as well as several other characters including Cotterpin Doozer and the Storyteller. Karen Prell played Red Fraggle, the rambunctious and athletic member of the group, as well as several other characters including Ma Gorg and Wingnut Doozer. Richard Hunt played Junior Gorg, the bumbling and lovable son of the Gorg King, as well as several other characters including Scooter and Janice from The Muppets.

Fraggle Rock was a unique and groundbreaking show that was ahead of its time in many ways. It tackled complex issues such as environmentalism, prejudice, and cultural understanding in a way that was accessible and engaging for both children and adults. The show's message of interconnectedness and community was particularly relevant at the time, as the world was becoming more and more divided.

Overall, Fraggle Rock was a show that left a lasting impact on its viewers. Its colorful and endearing characters, its catchy music, and its positive message of hope and community continue to resonate with audiences today, making it a timeless classic that will be enjoyed for generations to come.

Fraggle Rock is a series that is currently running and has 4 seasons (96 episodes). The series first aired on January 10, 1983.
