Ep 1. Space Pilot 3000

In the first episode of Futurama, titled Space Pilot 3000, we are introduced to the main character Fry, a 25-year-old pizza delivery boy, who is accidentally cryogenically frozen on New Year's Eve in the year 1999 and wakes up 1,000 years later on New Year's Eve in the year 2999.

As Fry adjusts to his new surroundings, he meets a one-eyed alien named Leela, who works as a career counselor at the cryogenics lab and is responsible for Fry's orientation in the future world. Leela explains to Fry that in the year 3000, Earth is now part of a planetary system called the Democratic Order of Planets and has been taken over by "big brain" aliens called the Brain Spawn, who have made everyone on Earth stupid and unable to fight back.

Fry is also introduced to Bender, a foul-mouthed robot who works at a suicide booth and becomes Fry's best friend. The trio sets off on a wild adventure to try to save the world, encountering various futuristic gadgets and technologies along the way.

Throughout the episode, we see glimpses of the future world, including a holographic billboard advertising "Slurm" (an addictive soft drink) and advertisements for a dating service for robots. There are also references to various pop culture icons from the past, such as Fry's fascination with the TV show "Single Female Lawyer" (which only aired for one season in the year 1999) and a cameo appearance by Dick Clark (who is still hosting New Year's Eve celebrations in the year 2999).

As Fry, Leela, and Bender navigate their way through the future world, they encounter various challenges and obstacles, including the evil alien race known as the Omicronians (who have a particular taste for human flesh) and a group of mutants who live below the city and are ostracized by society.

Throughout the episode, we see Fry struggling to make sense of his new world and coming to terms with the fact that everyone he knew and loved in the year 1999 is now long gone. However, despite the challenges he faces, Fry manages to find a sense of purpose in the future world, thanks to his newfound friends and his determination to make a difference.
