Ep 1. Crimes of the Hot

In the season five premiere of Futurama, titled "Crimes of the Hot," the city of New New York is in the midst of a heat wave, and the effects of global warming have become all too apparent. The polar ice caps have melted, causing the ocean to rise and submerge many of the world's cities, including Atlanta, which has been replaced with the "new" city of Atlanta, located in what was once Canada.

In an effort to combat the rising temperatures, the government has designated a "carbon-neutral" day, during which people are encouraged to conserve energy and reduce their carbon footprint. However, the Planet Express crew soon discovers that something more drastic must be done to stop the planet from overheating.

Leela, the crew's captain, attends a rally led by Al Gore, who warns that if something isn't done soon, Earth will become an uninhabitable wasteland. When Leela returns to the Planet Express building, she finds that it has become a breeding ground for a species of tiny, fast-replicating "nanobots" that thrive in the heat.

The nanobots have been unwittingly brought to Earth by Bender, who had been sent to the Arctic to deliver a package. Bender had dumped the package into the ocean, not realizing that it contained the robots. The nanobots quickly adapted to the rising temperatures and reproduced, eventually causing the heat wave that is plaguing the city.

Leela and her crew must stop the nanobots before they destroy the world. With the help of Al Gore, they come up with a plan to send the robots to the planet Vergon 6, where they can survive in the extreme heat and proliferate to their hearts' content.

As the Planet Express crew prepares to launch the nanobots into space, they are confronted by a wealthy industrialist named Pharaoh Blatz, who tells them that he will stop at nothing to prevent them from saving the planet. Blatz argues that the heat wave is good for business, as it is causing people to buy more air conditioners and other products that his company produces.

Despite Blatz's threats, the crew manages to launch the nanobots into space, but they are followed by Blatz's private army. In a thrilling space battle, the Planet Express crew manages to defeat Blatz's army and save the nanobots.

With the nanobots gone, the planet begins to cool down, and the people of New New York are able to enjoy a cool breeze for the first time in months. In the end, Al Gore thanks the Planet Express crew for their heroic efforts and promises to continue fighting to stop global warming.
