Ep 2. Hammers And Veils

Rory and Lorelai are back for another episode of Gilmore Girls in season 2, episode 2 titled "Hammers and Veils." The episode begins with Rory and Lane, her best friend, studying for their SATs at the local Luke's Diner. While there, the owner of the hardware store next door, Kirk, brings in a magazine and leaves it on the table for the girls to read. Across town, Lorelai is still trying to come up with a menu for the wedding when her father, Richard, drops by unexpectedly. He invites Lorelai and Rory to a formal dinner party at his house, where they will be seated at a table with his business associates. Lorelai reluctantly agrees but is worried that Rory will be bored at the dinner party.

Back at the store, the girls discover that the alarm was set off by a hammer that Lane had picked up earlier. The store clerk accuses them of stealing, and the situation becomes heated. Eventually, the store owner, Taylor, intervenes and lets the girls off the hook. However, Rory and Lane are still upset and decide to take action against the store.

At the dinner party, Lorelai is surprised to see that Rory is getting along with Richard's business associates. She even impresses them with her knowledge of business and finance. Lorelai is proud of her daughter but still misses their usual banter and jokes.

The next day, Rory and Lane plan to protest the hardware store's unfair treatment of them with a picket outside the store. They make posters and gather support from their friends, but when they arrive, they find that they are the only ones there. However, Lorelai arrives unexpectedly and joins in the picket.

The episode ends with Rory and Lorelai heading back to Stars Hollow, having had a memorable day of standing up for what they believe in. They talk about the day's events and joke around, creating one of their signature mother-daughter moments.
