Ep 20. Say Goodnight, Gracie

Lorelai and Rory are dealing with changes in their love lives in Gilmore Girls season 3 episode 20, "Say Goodnight, Gracie."

Rory's long-distance relationship with Dean is struggling, and she's starting to develop feelings for Jess, who has been a thorn in her side since he arrived in Stars Hollow. Meanwhile, Lorelai is happily dating Alex but is caught off guard when an insistent Luke invites her to a movie night.

As Rory tries to navigate her confusing love life, Lorelai grapples with her feelings for Luke and tries to figure out what they mean. When Emily accidentally reveals that Lorelai has been seeing someone, Richard jumps to the conclusion that it's Luke and sets out to investigate.

Despite her attempts to keep her romantic life under wraps, Lorelai's secret eventually gets out when she's spotted on a date with Alex. Luke is hurt and upset, and the two have a tense conversation in which Lorelai tries to explain that she didn't want to hurt him.

Meanwhile, Rory's love life takes a turn when she decides to kiss Jess at a party. Though he initially kisses her back, he quickly puts a stop to it and leaves the party. Rory is left confused and hurt, unsure of what Jess's feelings are toward her.

Throughout the episode, the theme of saying goodbye looms large. Lorelai and Luke both struggle with the idea of letting go of each other, while Rory tries to reconcile her feelings for two very different guys. As the title suggests, "Say Goodnight, Gracie" is an episode about moving on and saying goodbye to the past, even when it's difficult.
