Gone Country is an American reality television series that premiered on CMT in January 2008. The show features a group of celebrities who are trying to cross over into the world of country music. During the course of the series, each celebrity is paired up with well-known country music songwriter and producer, John Rich, in an effort to create a country hit song.

The first season of Gone Country included a diverse cast of 7 celebrities, each with their own unique style and background. Julio Iglesias Jr. is a singer-songwriter from Spain who is the eldest son of the famous Latin pop singer, Julio Iglesias. Carnie Wilson is a singer best known for her work with the band Wilson Phillips, while Bobby Brown is a former member of the R&B group New Edition.

Diana DeGarmo is a singer and actress who rose to fame as the runner-up on the third season of American Idol. Sebastian Bach is a Canadian heavy metal singer who was the lead singer of the band Skid Row. Dee Snider is a musician and actor who is best known as the lead singer of the heavy metal band, Twisted Sister. Mikalah Gordon is also a former contestant on American Idol.

In addition to these celebrities, the first season of Gone Country also featured Tara Conner, a former Miss USA, and Taylor Dayne, a pop singer who had several hits in the 80s.

Throughout the course of the series, the celebrities participate in a variety of challenges and activities designed to immerse them in the world of country music. They attend concerts, visit radio stations, and even perform live on stage at the famed Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.

Each episode culminates in a songwriting challenge where the celebrities, with the help of John Rich, work to create their own original country song. In the first season, the final challenge sees the celebrities performing their own songs in front of a live audience, with the winner receiving a recording contract.

Gone Country's second season premiered in January 2009 and included an equally eclectic mix of celebrities. The cast included Jermaine Jackson, a former member of the Jackson 5, Justin Guarini, the runner-up on the first season of American Idol, and Chris Kirkpatrick, a member of the boy band NSYNC.

The second season also featured actress Sean Young, musician and producer George Clinton, Micky Dolenz of The Monkees fame, and Lorenzo Lamas, an actor best known for his work on soap operas such as Falcon Crest and Renegade.

Overall, Gone Country was a fun and entertaining reality television series that gave viewers a glimpse into the process of creating a country hit song. The show's unique format allowed the celebrities to showcase their talents in a new and different way, while also introducing them to the world of country music. Whoever is chosen as having best displayed their song on canvas will win a session of mentoring with JR.
