This engaging comedy-drama tells of a young woman, Olivia Martin (played by Lacy Chabert)who is forced to make some life-changing and compelling decisions when she is faced with taking care of her half-sister, Celia (played by Sammi Hanratty) when her dad and his wife die in a tragic car accident.
The family lawyer, Dennis Klein (played by David Ramsey) informs Olivia that her father and his wife had both agreed that she would be the best to take of Celia. Olivia is very surprised to learn this since she was distant from the father and this does not set well with her. She is totally against it. Olivia is a college student and the only thing she has to worry about are mid-terms and fraternity parties and she has big plans to leave and go to Italy on an adventure with her boyfriend, Joe (played by Adam Kaufman) and does not want to be saddled with the responsibility of taking care of a young child.
As the movie progresses, Olivia and Celia get to know each other and in the process, Olivia realizes that she is learning how to be a big sister to Celia and cares for her deeply. She finds Celia to be warm, intelligent, and adorable to be around. She starts to realize that she needs to be there for Celia as she grows up. In the end, she decides not to go to Italy with her boyfriend, Joe, and stay to take care of Celia.
This movie is based on a novel by Clair Scovell LaZebnick and Nell Scovell: Same as it never was. The movie was a 2006 ABC Family Film: an original television family film. The movie is directed by Steven Robman who is an American Television Producer.

But when her father and stepmother are tragically killed in a car accident, Olivia suddenly finds herself responsible for her seven-year-old half-sister she barely knows. Olivia reluctantly accepts custody of Celia (Sammi Hanratty) and discovers becoming a family will be a lot harder than she ever imagined. With the help of her self-involved and capricious mom Barbara (Wendie Malick), Olivia and Celia begin to give each other a chance and learn to trust one another. But when caring for Celia takes a toll on Olivia's social life and she begins to miss her freedom and carefree days, will she experience a change of heart?
