Episode 5 of Hetalia: The Beautiful World season 1 is titled "Episode 5." The episode begins with Italy attempting to make pasta, but he accidentally drops the pasta on the floor. Germany walks in on him and helps him clean up. Italy then asks Germany about his favorite food, which leads to a discussion about the different cuisines of Europe.

The scene transitions to France and England having a conversation. England expresses his dislike for France's cooking and insults it, which causes France to react angrily. Later, France is shown attempting to make traditional French dishes but having trouble with them. He then calls Italy for help, but Italy is unable to offer much assistance. The two then decide to try out each other's cuisines, leading to a humorous food swap.

The next scene features America and Japan participating in an eating contest. America, confident in his ability to eat large amounts of food, begins to stuff his face. However, he is quickly defeated when Japan uses his chopsticks to pick up and consume the food at a lightning fast rate.

The episode then focuses on Russia, who is shown attempting to make a traditional Russian dish, kulebyaka. However, his attempts are disrupted by a group of dancing vegetables that seemingly have a mind of their own. Despite his frustration, Russia begins to dance along with the vegetables.

The episode concludes with a comedic skit featuring the character Liechtenstein attempting to make traditional Swiss chocolate. However, she is interrupted by her brother, Switzerland, who begins to criticize her cooking skills. He then proceeds to make his own version of Swiss chocolate, which is revealed to be a block of cheese. The episode ends with the characters enjoying a meal together.
