Based in Los Angeles California, HitFix is a website dedicated to entertainment news, insider information and providing unique and up-to-date reviews on movies, music and television shows. HitFix was launched in 2008 by Jen Sergent (a former Reed Business Development executive) and Greg Ellwood (a former film editor for the L.A. Times and MSN.com). HitFix has been made famous by their unique approach to target a male audience with their critiques of films and the latest Hollywood gossip (which is usually geared almost exclusively toward females ages 18-34). Since its launch in 2008 HitFix has been widely popular and has, on average, 1,000,000 users in any given month.

It is believed that HitFix's popularity is due to its employment of respected contributors including: Alan Sepinwall a former New Jersey Star-Ledger of reporter who joined HitFix fulltime in 2010 and brought with him What's Alan Watching a blog now featured on HitFix. Drew McWeeny, who joined HitFix in 2008 and had previous work writing for Ain't It Cool News as well as Melinda Newman the West Coast Bureau Chief of Billboard Magazine for several years. She has written for such publications as The L.A. Times, the Washington Post, MSN, AOL among others and is currently the lead contributor for all music news and information published on HitFix.

Since 2008, HitFix has been known for its in-depth coverage of music, TV and movie awards, film and television reviews, music news and coverage, as well as covering the latest celebrity drama. Due to its popularity and accurate writing style, HitFix has enjoyed a reputation as a credible source for such publications as Huffington Post and Time magazine among others.

HitFix has several popular portals within its website including: What's Alan Watching (a blog that contributor Alan Sepinwall brought with him to HitFix) which covers the latest movie reviews and critiques. HitFix has become very popular all over the web and has been largely successful in appealing to its target audience of males.
